Compressed Air Storage Guide
An air receiver stores compressed air, stabilizes pressure, supports short demand events and provides a place for condensate to collect. The correct size depends on airflow, usable pressure band, control strategy and the duration of the demand event.
Air receiver sizing should be based on the CFM that must be supported, the allowable pressure drop and how long the receiver must supply that demand. Larger storage can reduce rapid cycling and pressure swings, but it does not replace adequate compressor capacity.
